Allman Brothers Band Announces Dates for 2014 Beacon Theatre Run

(NOTE LANGUAGE) The Allman Brothers Band has confirmed dates for the 2014 edition of its annual residency at the Beacon Theatre in New York City.  RollingStone.com reports that the legendary Southern rock outfit will play 10 concerts during their engagement, on March 7, 8, 11, 12, 14, 15, 18, 19, 21 and 22.  Tickets will go on sale on January 10 at 10 a.m. ET.

2014 marks The Allman Brothers' 45th anniversary, and frontman Gregg Allman seems amazed that the group has been around for that long, commenting to Rolling Stone, "Where did it all go, right?"  He tells the magazine that fans coming to the Beacon shows can expect the unexpected.

"Spontaneous things still happen," he maintains.  "Going through the motions would be a real bore.  I know a band that plays the same songs in the same order, they even say the same s**t at the same time every night.  But, no, we're all still real into it."

Meanwhile, Gregg also suggests to Rolling Stone that longtime Allman Brothers bassist Oteil Burbridge may be exiting the group; however, The Allmans' publicist tells ABC News Radio that Burbridge is still member of the band and will be performing at this year's Beacon run.

In other Allmans news, a few archival live releases from the band are set to hit stores next month.  The group's own Allman Brothers Recording Company label will issue sometime in February an album titledBoston Common 8/17/71, which captures a performance that took place less than two months before founding guitarist Duane Allman's death.  In addition, on February 18, Epic/Legacy will release the two-CD collection Play All Night: Live at the Beacon Theatre 1992 and a DVD called Live at Great Woods, the latter of which features performances from a 1991 show the group played at the Mansfield, Massachusetts, venue.
