Def Leppard will hit the AXS TV airwaves to host a 12-hour block of rock concert specials on Sunday, December 29, including the broadcast premiere of the band's own Viva! Hysteria show. For the "Day of Hysteria" event, the pop-metal group's five members will be featured commenting about their classic 1987 album Hysteria and the Las Vegas residency they played this past spring that featured a full performance of the record.
AXS TV's debut screening of Viva! Hysteria is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. The special boasts footage of Def Leppard from various dates on their 11-show stand at Vegas' The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. In addition to Hysteria hits like "Animal," "Pour Some Sugar on Me" and "Love Bites," the band also is shown performing such other classics as "Rock of Ages" and "Photograph."
The "Day of Hysteria" marathon also will include the broadcast TV premiere of Cheap Trick at Budokan: The 35th Anniversary Performance, a show filmed earlier this year at Los Angeles' El Rey Theatre that saw the power-pop legends' playing the exact set featured on their landmark 1978 live album. Cheap Trick at Budokan, which helped catapult the band to stardom, was culled from performances that the group played at the famed Budokan venue in Japan. The 35th Anniversary Performance special will premiere at 9:35 p.m. ET.
Other specials that will air during the "Day of Hysteria" marathon include shows featuring The New York Dolls, Bon Jovi, Alice Cooper, Sammy Hagar and KISS.
